Exploring the faith with their senses

Knowing Jesus with their heart

What is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?

Based on Montessori methods, it is a way of accompanying children as they experience different aspects of our Catholic faith.  The heart of the catechesis for children under six revolves around the Parable of the Good Shepherd.  Children prayerfully explore materials designed to help them encounter the Good Shepherd.  He calls us by name and His sheep listen to His voice.

In addition, children will experience the various articles used on the altar, many important gestures the priest uses, and grow in appreciation of Jesus truly present in the Eucharist.

Recognizing that God and the child have a unique relationship with one another, the adult assists in the growth of that relationship through the peaceful Atrium.

It is amazing to see the youngest of our church embracing Scripture, the Eucharist, and silence.  They quickly grow to know that Jesus is next to them while they interact with the materials in the Atrium and that the voice of the Shepherd calls them.

When will the Atrium Meet?

St Peter’s will open two sessions for the Level 1 Atrium. Level 1 is for children who are 3, 4, or 5 years old in the fall. (Yes, we are now accepting 5-year-olds as well!)

Parents may choose between Tuesdays 3:00 - 4:30 PM or Wednesdays 9:00 - 10:30 AM.

Sessions last for 1 and ½ hours.

COST: $110 per child.

Space is limited. If registration is full contact Patty Rosno prosno@stpeterfl.org to be placed on the waiting list.
