The Liturgy is the source and summit of our Christian life. As early as the 2nd century we have the witness of St. Justin Martyr for
the basic lines of the order of the Eucharistic celebration: the Mass.

LITURGICAL MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

  • The ministry of Altar Server is open to young Catholic men and women, grades 4 - 12. Servers are needed to assist the sacristan in preparing for Masses and to assist the priest during all weekend, Holy Day, and holiday Masses. Servers are scheduled 1-2 times per month at Mass times of their choice.  Training is required. Training dates are scheduled in the Spring and Fall of each year.   • The ministry of Funeral Server is open to Catholic adult men and women. Funeral servers assist in preparing the altar before a funeral and assisting the priest during the funeral. Volunteers are called as needed. Training is required and is done individually.

  • The ministry of Lector is open to confirmed, practicing Catholic men and women high school age and older. Lectors are scheduled to proclaim the word of God at all parish liturgies. Scheduling is approximately twice per month at the Mass times of their choice. Training is required and is done on an individual basis. 

  • The EMHC ministry is open to confirmed, practicing Catholic men and women 16 years of age and older. Ministers are scheduled to act as Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, assisting the Ordinary Minister, the priest, with the distribution of Holy Communion and at all liturgies - weekends, Holy Days, holidays, and weekdays. Training is required, and is scheduled on an individual basis.

  • The ministry of Sacristan is open to Catholic adult men and women age 18 or older. Responsibilities include preparing all needed vestments and vessels for Masses and liturgies. Sacristans are self-scheduled at all weekend, weekday, Holy Day, and holiday Masses, funerals, and liturgical services. VIRTUS training and a background check are required.  Training is provided on an individual basis.

  • Ushers volunteer to help with the needs of the congregation, providing an environment of hospitality at all parish Masses and liturgies. Ushers must be 18 years of age or older, and must complete a background and credit check. Training is provided as needed.

  • This ministry is open to men and women 18 years of age and older. Volunteers livestream the 5:30 pm Saturday Mass as well as special parish events throughout the year. Scheduling is self-scheduled and training is provided on an individual basis.

  • Volunteers are needed year-round to help maintain the plants and flowers both in and outside of the church. During the Advent / Christmas and Lent / Easter seasons, volunteers are needed to help create the special liturgical environments as well as to help with the takedown after the season concludes. No training is necessary.

  • This ministry is open to adult men and women. Volunteers assist the wedding couple at their rehearsal and at their wedding liturgy with the practical details of their wedding ceremony and the use of our facilities. Training is provided on an individual basis.
