CONFIRMATION

“[T]hey sent Peter and John to them. The two went down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit (for as yet the Spirit had not come upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus). Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 8:14-17

“Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the “sacraments of Christian initiation, whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.”

Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1285

Confirmation

  1. Strengthens the grace of Baptism

  2. Commits the baptized to become witnesses of Christ by word and deed and to spread and defend the faith. Christ himself declared that he was marked with his Father's seal. Christians are also marked with a seal: "It is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has commissioned us; he has put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantees”

  3. This seal of the Holy Spirit marks;

    • Our total belonging to Christ

    • Our enrollment in his service forever

    • The promise of divine protection in the great eschatological trial (CCC, 1296). Through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit

    • The baptized continue on the path of initiation

    • Are perfectly bond to the Church.

In short, Confirmation awakens a person’s experience of Baptism and points them toward sharing in Eucharist. It strengthens them for their journey of discipleship and for active participation in the faith community.

About our Confirmation Program

Welcome to our Confirmation Program! We’re excited to journey with you and your youth this year as they prepare for this holy and beautiful Sacrament of Initiation.

  • Our Confirmation program is now a one-year program. Typically, students are in the 8th grade. However, if your child has completed 8th grade and is younger than 17, we can discuss on a case-by-case basis whether OCIA or Confirmation is a better fit.

  • Youth will attend Wednesday evening classes from 6:00 - 7:15pm, from September to April/May. Please see the calendar below for more details. Confirmation Mass date is to be announced once we receive it from the Archdiocese.

It is a wonderful program rich in faith, fellowship, and fun!

Each student will need to fill out the Confirmation Requirements Document throughout the year as they complete various requirements and turn it in at the end of the year. This is included below and will also be handed out the first night of class.

  • With transitioning to a one-year program, we ask you not miss more than 3 classes. Additionally, each class missed will require homework from the lesson covered.
