Stitches of Joy and Memory: Highlights from The Crafters Club

By: Pa Zong Lee

At the heart of creativity and community, The Crafters Club is a haven for anyone who loves quilting, knitting, or getting hands-on with creative projects. Whether you’re an experienced fiber artist or just learning to thread a needle, the club welcomes you with open arms. It’s more than just a place to make things, it’s where friendships are formed, stories are shared, and every stitch carries a little bit of joy.

Featured Project: Swedish Sweaving by Elaine Zeller

This month, club member Elaine Zeller unveiled her stunning new quilt, Swedish Sweaving. Drawing inspiration from traditional Scandinavian patterns, Elaine's creation is a celebration of curves, color, and culture. The quilt’s flowing lines and bold hues merge old-world charm with a contemporary flair, showcasing Elaine’s talent for blending history with innovation.

The intricate design pays homage to Swedish weaving styles, yet it feels completely fresh a true testament to the spirit of modern quilting. It’s a piece that invites admiration not just for its beauty, but for the deep craftsmanship and thought behind every element.

Memory in Every Stitch: Keepsake by Geneva Erdman

Another standout this season is Geneva Erdman’s deeply personal quilt, titled Keepsake. Made for her grandson’s graduation, this quilt is crafted from his favorite shirts and printed photos, with each square capturing a moment in time.

Geneva’s work transforms fabric into family history. From childhood snapshots to beloved T-shirts, the quilt is more than a gift, it’s a fabric diary, sewn with love, pride, and hope for the future. Keepsake reminds us all of how powerful handmade art can be in preserving memories.
